DONATE TODAY!

On behalf of our new Executive Director, Wilhelmenia Wilson and Suzette Chaumette, President of the Healthy Black Families Board of Directors, we invite you to support our programs!

Join us in celebrating Giving Tuesday, a worldwide event revolving around generosity and helping local communities. Your contributions support Healthy Black Families as leaders within a worldwide movement dedicated to advancing social equity for communities of color. We are known for our unshakeable advocacy for Black people and communities.

At Healthy Black Families, one of our core values is Human dignity – We are conscious of and actively support the basic right of every human being to have respect and to have their basic needs met. Healthy Black Families enriches communities by providing programs to support individual, family and community wellness and by collaborating to develop people centered policy

Healthy Black Families - People, Programs, Policy

In 2021, with your help, Health Black Families supported the Bay Area community with a small portfolio of programs that we are looking to grow and expand..

  • Sisters Together Empowering Peers (STEP) program - Leadership training, advocacy, support, empowerment and motherhood circles. Development of STEP leaders, community education forums, kindergarten readiness educational discussions, play and learn on Zoom sessions (during COVID), lactation and breastfeeding workshops and fatherhood engagement assessments and learning
  • Thirsty for Change (T4C!) - Rethink your Drink presentations, water promotion, Nutrition education, health education/equity information and discussion groups, food justice workshops including cooking, shopping classes and garden tours
  • Telling our Stories (TOS) - Twelve week therapeutic writing circles supported pregnant and mothering women to reflectively process thoughts, feelings and experiences. Circles have resulted in the publishing of 9 anthologies entitled "What We Carry: Stories Black Women Never Tell" (available on Amazon.com)
